The Carlton, Rothwell, Oulton & Woodlesford Network (CROWN) Lottery was established to support and help grow our local businesses.
The greater Rothwell area has a vibrant and varied economy with many independent shops, restaurants, pubs, wine bars etc. During the pandemic people really discovered the depth of our local economy and enjoyed being able to enjoy life locally as local businesses quickly adapted to fast changing circumstances. As life returned to ‘normal’ we wanted to ensure that our businesses continue to be supported by our local community as well as being able to attract new customers from out of the area.
The Lottery tickets will be sold by some (hopefully many) of our local businesses. They cost £1 with 80% of ticket sales being paid out as 5 cash prizes each month. The clever bit is that the cash prize is paid in our new local, micro currency, the CROWN Pounds. These can only be spent in local participating businesses helping to keep spending locally.

Nestled between the cities of Leeds & Wakefield, Rothwell is a fantastic place to live. Whilst we are close to a major city and all the activities that provides and have great transport links allowing us to explore the country as we want we also have a great local area. Our history is rooted in agriculture and mining. We have numerous historic civic buildings, a traditional main street, some great independent businesses including restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars as well as fabulous parks, countrysideand waterways on our doorstep.
CROWN is a volunteer led organisation established to encourage, facilitate, sustain and develop the ‘Greater Rothwell’ area and community and is made up of the Carlton, Rothwell, Oulton & Woodlesford neighbourhoods.
